new car

Well after a 3 day week break from caddying, I have been busy doing 3 day golf camps, individual golf lessons, working for US kids golf Japan and a little bit of English teaching. Today Carly and I also bought a new car (well 2nd hand brand new!!!) a Toyota Rav4 2 door which looks like the car has been sliced in half at the back, but it will do the job and I'm happy.
Next week i will go to Fukuyama to caddie for Brendan in the Mizuno Open so I will write a daily report about that. until then be good.

Rainy Japan

Well last week was the Japan PGA and unfortunately Brendan missed the 36 hole cut. The course mind you was an absolute disgrace, it had rained non-stop for 3 days before the tournament and the golf course was like a lake!! Anyway went back home to Mito on the weekend and proceeded to ride 100km in guess what.....the rain!! Now I am down in Okayama for the Munsingwear tournament, the course is great but today there was no practice on the course for us as it has rained constantly since 6 o'clock this morning!!! looking forward to seeing sunshine but aparently we are not going to see it until Sunday, will keep you posted on the tournament

Golden Week Ride

Well last week was a week long holiday for the Japanese which they call "Golden Week". So for this holiday Carly organised the "Tour de Kyoto" by bicycle. The tour was to consist of 260 km of riding, which is easy for Carly as she is the female version of "Lance Armstong", but for me I have been training for several years from good friends "Johnny Walker and "Jim Beam" so I knew it would tough!!!
Both Johnny and Jim did make a few guest appearences on the trip though and It was shattering to leave them behind later in the trip as they were replaced by my boring cousins "Gatorade" and "Water" who I have nothing in common with!! Still I managed to get through it, even though we had a rest day on Wednesday as my knee began to play up. Yesterday I played golf with Carly and a couple of her friends down south of Japan near Nagoya and on Tuesday I will start caddying for Brendan in the Japan PGA championship. Stay tuned!!

Tsuruya Open

Well 2 weeks into caddying and register a win!! Brendan played solid all week but what impressed me the most was his attitude, did'nt worry to much about bad shots or holes and just got on with it. The other big news of the week was Teru Sugihara, a 69 year old legend of Japan golf made the final 36 holes of play including an unbelievable 2 under on the 2nd day!! This was an official world record for the oldest person ever to make a 36 hole cut in Professional golf. There is no way that Sugihara could be more than 5 foot 3 inches and it looks like he should be in nursing home but he is one tough cookie and was great for the gallery.

But great to see Brendan have a win and I'm still recovering from an almighty drinking session last night.

Japan Golf Tour

Well back caddying for a few events for Brendan Jones on the Japanese Tour and got off to a very good start by finishing tied for 2nd. The golf course was as easy as I have seen, short, wide fairways and no rough. Brendan played with good friend Wayne Perske on the final day, which definately helped both players. Wayne was just to good on the day though and finished up on top with a whopping 21 under par!!. The tour has moved on to Osaka this week for the Tsuruya Open, you can check the scores on www.jgto.org and click on the english site in the top right hand corner of that front page. Will be writing a more detailed journal about the tour over the next few weeks.

SAKURA

Yes Yes I know i haven't written anything for a long time, but to be honest nothing much has been happening apart from golf coaching, crap english teaching and the odd game of golf!!

At the moment all the hype in Japan is the "Sakura" (cherry blossom) season. We are currently heading into spring and the Sakura is ready to bloom bright pink flowers. Now being a typical aussie "bloke" I initially thought this would be boring as bat shit but for some reason I'm getting into it and soon when the flowers are ready to fall, japanese people will be getting there picinics together and sitting under the trees waiting for the flowers to drop on top of them.

Anyway I will soon be back on the Japanese tour cadding for a few events for Brendan Jones so I will be writing more in my blog about that and hopefully it will be more exciting than the current crap blog that I'm writing now!!
